Projects, People and Prizes
The start of next year will mark the second birthday of our studio here in Dubai. And it’s safe to say a lot has happened in two years: the team is now 12 strong, we’ve an exciting and growing mix of projects on the go and have recently launched a new studio in Beirut, Lebanon. There’s also been an award win for Bloomingdale’s Kuwait (Retail Lighting Project of the Year) at the recent Light Middle East Awards 2017, and a nomination for Lighting Design Consultancy of the Year at the upcoming Middle East Consultant Awards 2017.
The success and growth of our talented team proves what an exciting location the Middle East is. The launch of our studio in Beirut – a commercial and cultural hub – headed up by Hala Nasrallah, demonstrates our commitment to the region and its growing potential, and it means that we can spread our wings further afield.
The architectural lighting design projects we’re currently working on range from the large-scale HQ of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to a streetscape refurbishment in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), various hotels, retail refurbishments and private residences. Alongside these, we’ve projects in the pipeline that span UAE, KSA, Oman, Iran and Bahrain.
Going forward, especially with Expo 2020 Dubai on the horizon, there’s great potential on the business development front for our practice. Hospitality will be a major focus in the next few years – there are big plans to grow the tourism market across the Middle East and as a result, an influx of new hotels are in the pipeline, from luxury 5-star establishments to 3-star pod concepts.
With collaboration and teamwork at the heart of what we do, and with the best team in place to move forward, we’re excited for the next two years and improving life through light!
