The Dorothy Garrod Building
Last week Walters & Cohen Architects were the proud recipients of a RIBA National Award for the Dorothy Garrod Building at Newnham College, Cambridge.
The contemporary extension to the University of Cambridge college was one of 54 projects that won an award, and will now be considered, alongside the other winners, for the 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist.
We are thrilled to have collaborated on the project and provide a lighting design solution that complements the architecture, adds an inviting warmth to space and incorporates a light-filled homage to eminent former students and research fellows.
For Daniel Blaker and our team on a whole, “It was a delight to help enrich these wonderful spaces through light and to see them being embraced by not only the student body but also the fellows and wider community”.
More information on the Dorothy Garrod Building can be found on RIBA’s website.
