“They love the light. I think people walk through the door and feel comfortable. And that’s because the light has been thought about very carefully,” is how Cindy Walters of Walters & Cohen Architects summarises the lighting scheme for Newnham College’s recent extension – the Dorothy Garrod Building.
We’re delighted to have worked on the award-winning project, with Walters & Cohen and Ab Rogers Design, and that a recent edition of RIBA Journal Product in Practice has published an exclusive feature on the lighting design.
The lighting solution highlights exterior features such as hit-and-miss brickwork and artwork by Cathy de Monchaux, enhances the central café’s double-height space and provides a warm welcome in the Porters’ Lodge. You can read the article by Pamela Buxton in full here.
