Guerlain has unveiled its exquisite new Spa at One&Only Le Saint Géran, nestled on the enchanting island of Mauritius in the heart of the Indian Ocean. Drawing inspiration from the island’s natural beauty, this idyllic sanctuary offers an immersive escape through exclusive beauty and wellness rituals.
The lighting design for the spa, developed in collaboration with Blink, Bangkok, artfully balances luxury, comfort, and practicality. The aim was to create a soothing atmosphere through a soft, golden palette that blends warm tones with indirect lighting to enhance the pared back interior.
As the reception is flooded with natural daylight from a fixed garden-facing window, indirect lighting in the form of soft cove illumination and integrated joinery lighting was used to add warmth and definition to the brand’s signature aesthetic.
Positioned in the centre of the spa and away from natural daylight, the retail space features focused lighting, with direct downlights emphasising the display areas and soft cove illumination enveloping guests in an elegant quality of light.
Designed with visual comfort in mind, the treatment rooms feature indirect cove lighting and hidden fittings behind cabinets for a tranquil and soothing ambience.
By using a balanced colour temperature of 3000K across the space, the lighting design complements the neutral daylight entry and enhances the materiality of the scheme.
Integrated fittings were used to maintain a clean, discreet aesthetic, ensuring the lighting design works seamlessly with both the spa’s serene environment and the tranquil beauty of Mauritius.
