This is a residential development like no other. Prestigious, luxury living conveniently located between the Square Mile and West End, London’s historical landmarks and world-class architecture surround the privileged residents of these apartments.
With serious curb appeal, we knew the interior and exterior architectural lighting design scheme had to do more than meet the high-end vision. Collaborative working with the architects and interior designers allowed us to design a lighting solution that complemented and enhanced the exclusive development, adding to the luxury style of living.
The reception area has a boutique hotel feel. Bespoke pendants hang above the large concierge desk to give a warm welcome and soft back lighting shows off key design details. The interior architecture allowed for understated luminaires that wash the elegant dark emperador marble walls with linear light. Low-level lighting is continued in the library adding ambience and richness to the basement-level space.
In the apartments a flexible and relaxing homely feel was achieved through gentle coffer illumination. The top-notch kitchens were given extra contrast through integrated lighting in the joinery and the lush bedroom interiors were bathed with soft pools of light.
The historical surroundings, including the Grade II listed Maughan Library next door, meant we also had to think carefully about light pollution – so, the lighting design scheme of private gardens and terraces was kept purposely low. But, with techniques like discreet uplighting under planters framing the space, we could still create the perfect amount of ambience and a little oasis right in the centre of town, all while respecting the neighbours.
