There’s a new kid on the block in Britain’s oldest town. After a few years in the making, Fenwick has opened a swish retail destination that merges heritage with modern-day shopping.
The store’s façade is an endearing yet striking architectural mélange, but on the inside it reads as one holistic, contemporary space. The lighting design is simple, clean and considered, working hand in hand with the sophisticated interior. It’s also fully flexible to accommodate for today’s ever-changing retail layouts and environments.
To make the merchandise “shine”, we used high quality luminaires with good colour rendering and sought the perfect level of contrast between principal routes and product displays. Bespoke LED ceiling panels provide diffuse illumination, whereas track and gimbal lighting showcase the goods – narrow beam luminaires add drama, wider ones a more homogeneous effect.
The lighting gives each retail pocket its own unique feel: menswear has a darker, more dramatic vibe, the beauty hall’s ambience is soft and flattering, homeware is light and calm, and the impressive atrium space is clean and contemporary.
