The “crème de la crème” is what we’re talking when it comes to Selfridges. Voted best department store in the world nonetheless, we’re always hugely privileged to work with the top-rated retailer.
Being one step ahead is crucial to the store’s success so as part of a “Menswear Masterplan” the department has been revamped and now includes a personal shopping area, the first of its kind in the UK.
We provided technical design and delivery of the architectural lighting design scheme that complements the luxurious, sophisticated retail space. Taking the original concept by others we finessed and developed the detailed design, which used low-energy LED and ceramic metal halide luminaires.
A standout feature is three bespoke halo pendants that grace the central area. Suspended above sculpture plinths they highlight snazzy accessories, while creating a natural divide of the floor space. In the personal shopping area lower light levels and warmer colour temperatures were used – the result is exclusivity akin to a private members club. And, a lighting control system and layering of light allowed for added flexibility – an important requirement when dealing with VIP shoppers.
