Designed to encourage visitors to pause and savour the culinary experience, the warm, ambient lighting scheme highlights key architectural features while ensuring a balance between contrast and comfort. The result is an immersive and visually appealing environment that enhances the visitor experience from the moment they step inside.
While the brief called for a warm lighting concept aimed at fostering social interaction and culinary enjoyment, a predominantly black interior—featuring dark finishes and signage— presented challenges for balanced illumination. To address this, vertical illumination was used to add ambience and depth, while preserving the bold design.
Another consideration for the lighting scheme was establishing a clear visual hierarchy across the market. Graphic lines of light elevate the unique character of each culinary space, while accent lighting picks out the branded signage, restaurant names, and menus to guide visitors through the space.
Different zones feature varying lighting intensities: bright for high-energy areas and dim for relaxed seating. The layered lighting strategy includes ambient lighting for comfort, accent lighting for focal points, and feature lighting to enhance the market’s vibrant identity.
