Tom’s fascination with design developed long before his Bachelor of Science in Architecture and was nurtured by his formative years taking apart his favourite toys and fastidiously putting them back together – much to the dismay of his parents. He turned his attention to playing around with light fittings and worked in stage lighting for a performing arts academy, the latter of which ignited a passion for the medium of light.
In his role at Nulty, Tom uses his inquisitive mind and architectural background to tackle the multifaceted challenges of lighting design. He is inspired by the transformative qualities of light and sees it as a conduit for emotion and experience; two strands that run throughout his dream project – the restoration of Battersea Power Station.
Outside the studio, Tom’s creativity comes across through his cooking exploits and technological tinkering. He applies this spirit of curiosity to everything he does, and for this reason alone, we’re confident that he’s poised to make his mark as a designer and show us exactly what he’s made of.
